FOREST CERTIFICATION
Forest certification recognises that consumers have a right to know whether the forest product they are purchasing comes from a sustainably-managed forest.
In the UK, the agreed standard for forest certification is UK Woodland Assurance Standard (UKWAS).UPM Tilhill operates two certification schemes which maximise the benefits of scale so delivering the benefits at low cost.
Resource Manager Scheme - for woodlands managed by UPM Tilhill
This scheme uses UPM Tilhill's integrated Assurance Management System to meet many of the requirements of UKWAS. UPM Tilhill acts in the capacity of 'Resource Manager' for its managed clients.
Group Scheme - for other woodlands
The UPM Tilhill Group Certification Scheme is open to all woodland owners in the UK and provides an audit and certification service at competitive rates. The scheme is run by UPM Tilhill as Group Manager.
