On the 30 October 2007, Stephen Taylor from UPM Tilhill’s South-East England district received a certificate from George Ferguson, Past President of the Royal Institute of British Architects, during the Awards ceremony at the Lanterns Children’s Centre, Winchester.

The Awards, organised by the City of Winchester Trust, recognise quality in the design of buildings and landscape within the City of Winchester. They are given to outstanding examples of architecture and environmental design.

St. Catherine’s Park and Ride received a Commendation in the \'Landscape, planting and open spaces\' category. UPM Tilhill’s South-East England district was the main contractor working for, and under the project management of, Hampshire County Council. The landscape architect was Linda Thomas of Winchester City Council. The first phase of works was completed in May 2004 followed by a three year maintenance programme.

The judging panel, led by George Ferguson, commented: \'Generous and carefully considered layout and planting, high quality hard surfaces and a smart amenity building all come together to produce this attractive interpretation of a utilitarian function.\'

“We are delighted to receive this Commendation from the City of Winchester Trust which recognises the quality that UPM Tilhill brings to ambitious projects such as this where every care is taken to work sensitively within the landscape,” said Dai Lewis, District Manager, UPM Tilhill.
