UPDATE: Fatal incident at harvesting site

A 37-year old sub-contractor died in an incident on a timber harvesting site at Broad Wood, Barden Mill, Northumberland on Monday (24 September, 2007).

Local ambulance and police services attended the scene.

The sub-contractor, who was working for Noble, UPM Tilhill\\\'s main contractor on the site, died during tree felling work on the site. He leaves a widow and two children.

The site has been inspected by the Health & Safety Executive and Northumbria Police and an investigation is in progress. UPM Tilhill is also conducting its own thorough internal investigation.

UPM Tilhill wishes to extend its sympathy to the family of the sub-contractor who died.
