What a difference a day makes – UPM Tilhill give Dove Cottage some TLC

Forest managers and administration staff from UPM Tilhill’s Midland’s office in Bottesford downed the usual tools of their trade in exchange for paint brushes and secateurs when they set out to transform the building and grounds of a Stathern hospice.

The ten-strong team went along to Dove Cottage Day Hospice, Canal Lane, Stathern, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire on Tuesday 18th September as part of UPM Tilhill’s UK-wide Community Action Days initiative. The enthusiastic team worked hard and by the day’s end had completely painted the hospice’s external walls, stained over 40 fence panels and, in addition, pruned the garden’s fruit and amenity trees.

“This is our second Community Action Day at Dove Cottage and it was great to be back - this time to revive the cottage and fencing with a fresh lick of paint and offer some tender loving care to the garden’s trees,” said Richard Sochacki, District Manager. “The staff of Dove Cottage were delighted with the results and as always the UPM Tilhill team, who are usually involved in all aspects of tree and woodland management from planting trees on farms to timber harvesting , enjoyed a refreshing change of scene and had lots of fun in the process. We look forward to another Community Action Day next year.”

“A big thanks once again to the UPM Tilhill team,” said Chris Gatfield, Dove Cottage. “It’s great to have so many hands to the deck, transforming our buildings and grounds. I know that the results will really lift the spirits of our staff and visitors.”
