UPM Tilhill wins RoSPA Award for third year

UPM Tilhill has scooped a Gold Award for the quality of its service, skills and safety at the RoSPA Health & Safety Awards 2008.

The annual award is the third presented to UPM Tilhill by RoSPA and demonstrates that the UK’s largest timber harvesting and environmental works company has met and exceeded RoSPA\'s key performance requirements, attaining high levels of health and safety management.

George McRobbie, Director of Health and Safety, UPM Tilhill, said: "We are absolutely delighted to win the RoSPA Gold Award. Working in the forestry, utilities and landscaping sectors, health and safety is the cornerstone of everything we do and this award recognises the very high standards UPM Tilhill achieves in implementing effective and practical measures to ensure the health and safety of our employees, contractors, the general public and the environment."

The RoSPA awards help to ensure that organisations have good health and safety management systems in place. RoSPA Gold Award winners have achieved a very high level of performance, demonstrating well developed occupational health and safety management systems and culture, outstanding control of risk and very low levels of error, harm and loss.

The Gold Award will be presented to George McRobbie at a special ceremony in Glasgow on 25th September.
