Can you afford to get it wrong?
Company legislation and industry standards are becoming increasingly complex. It can be difficult to ensure that you comply with every law and follow every guideline.
One way to make any projects easier and ensure that your works are fully compliant, is to work with a company that can evidence its commitment and compliance with, current legislation and industry standards.
AMS – An integrated approach
UPM Tilhill has implemented an integrated assurance management system (AMS) that allows us to mange all our diverse business operations consistently and thoroughly, and to ensure that all operations are properly implemented, documented and recorded to provide an auditable trial.
Our AMS combines 1SO 9001:2000 (quality assurance), ISO 14001:2004 (environmental management) and OHSAS 18001 (health and safety) standards, and is subject to annual audit by external accreditation bodies.
Commitment to these internationally recognised standards through our AMS ensures that our policies and procedures recognise legal requirements and industry best practice. The AMS provides managers with the means to plan, instruct and monitor work in a manner that ensures compliance with current legislation and guidelines.
The system allows us to seek and implement constructive, practical solutions to issues that arise. The structured method for assessing competence among contractors and staff helps bring appropriate skills to bear. UPM Tilhill employs specialist staff to advise on health and safety, and environmental and ecological issues.
Continuous monitoring and improvement
The cycle of planning work, checking how it is carried out and reviewing against client and UPM requirements, means that our systems are regularly revised to be efficient, and to provide the continual improvement that forms an important part of our ISO registrations.
We have found that it is more expensive to get things wrong than to do it right. UPM Tilhill's AMS allows our managers to do it right and to prove they do it right.
