Project: Roadside landscaping for Birmingham northern relief road
Client: CAMBBA (Carillion/Alfred McAlpine/Balfour Beatty/AMEC)
Value: £1,100,000 capital works plus £500,000 maintenance works

Planting, plus hydro and conventional seeding of 18 kilometres of the country’s first toll road. Works included new hedges, ornamental planting of roundabouts, ornamental planting to toll plazas, and woodland plots with random planting pattern.

  • 400 standard trees.
  • 13,000 feather trees.
  • 30 km hedging.
  • 15,000 ornamental plants.
  • 80 ha of woodland planting.
  • 10 ponds planted with marginal aquatics.
  • 135 ha of conventional and hydro-seeding.
Maintenance (3 years):
  • 45 ha open grass cutting.
  • 90 ha strimming.
  • 44 km verge cutting.
  • 350,000 tree stations to be sprayed.
