High profile soft landscape project, involving environmental improvements to enhance approximately seven miles of infrastructure along the public bus route into Crawley town centre.

Landscaping project > Crawley 'Fastway'. Works included:
  • Close liaison between the police and Metro Bus Company for traffic management planning to avoid disruption along the busy
  • ‘Fastway’ route.
  • Importing 700m3 of premium-grade topsoil to new shrub beds, and incorporating 200m3 of peat-free compost.
  • Formation and cultivation of new ornamental shrub beds. Planting of 8,000 ornamental and specimen shrubs, and 200 extra-heavy standard trees.
  • Semi-mature tree pits were excavated on 45 degree embankments. Construction of semi-circular concrete foundations holding 2.4m high untreated oak sleepers to form retaining terrace walls to individual evergreen oak trees.
  • Underground deadman anchor systems were used to support semi-mature trees. Irrigation pipes and Amsterdam tree soil were used in tree planting over 16cm girth.
  • Supply and erect decorative planed, timber knee rail around new shrub beds adjacent to public footpaths and zebra crossing points.
  • Supply and spread ornamental grade bark mulch on completion of planting.
  • Aftercare: period of two years on all new planting.
