Project: Landscaping: outdoor classroom at North Binfields

The Council’s aim was to open up an area of unmanaged, and previously inaccessible, mature conifer woodland to provide an educational resource for local schoolchildren.

Works included: vegetation management; clearance of vegetation from site for future play area; construction of an outdoor classroom.
Initial tree works:
- bat survey, bat-sensitive tree felling.
- lowering hedge height.
- tree inspections for health and safety.
Soft landscaping:
- 1,000 transplants/shrubs.
- 10 standard trees.
- 100 aquatic plants.
Hard landscaping:
- 60m boardwalk.
- 140m woodland path (h/w chips).
- 100m explorers’ trail.
- 120sqm pond with decking.
