Extensive landscaping and the creation of environmental screens, carried out by UPM Tilhill, to a six mile stretch of London’s A13 from Barking to Canning Town will improve the road’s aesthetic impact on the area, help reduce pollution and minimise traffic noise for local residents.

The route passes through industrial and residential areas therefore the project required careful management to ensure the site, which had limited access and storage, ran efficiently and that public access to the area was maintained.

Landscaping included:

• composting and cultivation of site.
• supply and planting of 263 semi-mature trees and 427 extra heavy standard trees, 82,000 container grown and 11,000 bare root shrubs and 18,000 bulbs.
• bark mulching.
• grass seeding.
• project is completed with three years maintenance.
